The Library Committee of JK Modern Law College, Dhampur is constituted to ensure the effective management, development and utilization of the College Library. The Committee shall work towards strengthening library resources, promoting reading and research habits among students and ensuring that the library facilities adequately support the academic requirements of the College.

Objectives of the Library Committee

The Library Committee shall:

  1. Ensure the effective functioning and development of the College Library.
  2. Review the academic and research requirements of students and faculty members.
  3. Recommend the purchase of textbooks, reference books, Bare Acts, legal journals, periodicals and other academic resources.
  4. Encourage students to make effective use of library facilities.
  5. Promote reading, self-learning, legal research and academic activities among students.
  6. Review the adequacy and relevance of existing library resources from time to time.
  7. Recommend the subscription and renewal of relevant legal journals, periodicals and digital legal databases.
  8. Monitor the proper maintenance, classification and preservation of library resources.
  9. Review library rules and recommend amendments wherever necessary.
  10. Consider suggestions and feedback received from students and faculty regarding library services.
  11. Encourage the use of digital and online learning resources for legal education and research.
  12. Ensure that the library provides a peaceful, disciplined and academically conducive environment.
  13. Review issues relating to damaged, lost or outdated books and recommend appropriate action.
  14. Promote awareness among students regarding new books, journals, databases and other resources added to the library.
  15. Undertake such other activities as may be necessary for the improvement and effective functioning of the College Library.

Meetings

The Library Committee shall meet periodically, preferably at least once every semester, and whenever necessary to consider matters relating to the development and functioning of the library. The proceedings and recommendations of the Committee shall be recorded and placed before the Principal/College Administration for appropriate action.

Tenure

The Library Committee shall ordinarily remain in force for the academic session for which it is constituted. The College Administration may reconstitute or modify the Committee whenever considered necessary.
